17-Year-Old Accused of N100,000 Theft Commits Suicide

A 17-year-old boy named Ojibe Chukwueze was discovered deceased after being accused of pilfering N100,000 from his employer in the Abijo area of Epe Local Government Area, Lagos State.

According to information gathered from a reliable source on Wednesday, Chukwueze’s body was found by the roadside, discovered by his sister. She revealed that her brother had returned home from work on the aforementioned day, took some money, and departed.

However, he failed to return home at the expected time, prompting concern. The sister received a distressing call from a neighbor reporting the discovery of Chukwueze’s lifeless body at a nearby bus stop.

Reports indicate that prior to his demise, Chukwueze’s employer had contacted his family, accusing the young man of stealing N100,000 from the shop. Allegedly, a plastic container of sniper, a poisonous substance, was found beside his body.

When reached for comment, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, affirming that an investigation has been launched to ascertain the circumstances surrounding Chukwueze’s untimely death.

Hundeyin disclosed, “On the receipt of the report, detectives of the division visited the scene and foam was gushing out of his mouth and nostrils. The can of the sniper has been recovered as an exhibit.”

He further stated, “The corpse has been removed and deposited at Epe General Hospital Mortuary for autopsy and preservation. Investigation is ongoing.”

This tragic occurrence comes in the wake of another distressing incident reported, wherein a 30-year-old graduate, Nerus Elemamba, was found deceased by suicide in his village in Umuohii, Oboama community, Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State. Elemamba’s body was discovered hanging in his room after participating in the day’s communal labor activities.
