14-Year-Old Student Stabs Teacher to Death, President Reacts
A 14-year-old student has fatally stabbed a 31-year-old teaching assistant at a school in Nogent, eastern France. The incident occurred during a bag search, and the suspect was arrested. French President Emmanuel Macron condemned the “senseless violence,” while Prime Minister Francois Bayrou described the threat of knives among children as “critical.”
The teaching assistant was stabbed several times during the search, and emergency services were quickly deployed to the scene. Classes have been suspended for two days, and pupils were sent home.
The alleged attacker was restrained by police officers, with one officer slightly injured. Macron expressed his condolences, stating that the nation is in mourning and the government is working to reduce crime.
Education Minister Elisabeth Borne visited the school to express support, praising the composure and dedication of those who subdued the attacker. The incident has sparked concerns about school safety and the prevalence of knife-carrying among minors.
