“14 Million Iranians Ready to Sacrifice Their Lives,” Says President Pezeshkian Amidst Tehran Bombings
Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran, says more than 14 million citizens have registered to defend the country as tensions rise following reported explosions in Tehran.
In a statement, Pezeshkian said millions of Iranians had declared their readiness to sacrifice their lives in defense of the nation. He added that he shares the same commitment.
The statement comes after reports of multiple explosions in Tehran. Al Jazeera reported that at least three powerful blasts were heard across the capital, with fighter jets seen overhead, suggesting ongoing military activity.
Details about the exact locations and causes of the explosions remain unclear. Iranian authorities have not confirmed casualties or provided an official explanation.
Meanwhile, the Israel Defense Forces said it carried out a series of targeted strikes on military and industrial sites in Tehran. In a statement shared on X, the military said it struck infrastructure at multiple airports, including Bahram, Mehrabad, and Azmayesh.
According to the Israeli military, Mehrabad Airport was used by Iran’s Quds Force as a hub for coordinating and supporting allied groups across the region. The strikes, it said, were intended to disrupt Iran’s missile production and military logistics.
Analysts say the reported attacks could affect Iran’s operational capacity in both the short and long term, particularly in its regional engagements.
Residents in Tehran have reportedly expressed concern as the situation develops. Iranian officials have yet to issue a formal response, but previous patterns suggest both diplomatic and military measures may follow.
