11-Year-Old Girl Found Stranded in Abuja After Fleeing Alleged Abuse
An 11-year-old girl, Happiness Ugbem, from Oju Local Government Area in Benue State, was discovered stranded in Kagini, Abuja, after reportedly fleeing her guardian’s home due to maltreatment.
According to Elder Sughnen Yaya, the girl revealed that her aunt, identified only as Caro, brought her to Abuja last week and left her in the care of a friend. Happiness alleged that she faced harsh treatment, which led her to run away on Sunday in an attempt to return to her aunt.
The minor was unable to recall the exact locations of her aunt’s residence or that of the friend.
Elder Sughnen has called on anyone with information about the girl’s family to come forward and assist.
