“You’re Playing with Fire” – Russia Warns US of Escalation Risks Amid Ukraine Conflict

Russia has issued a stern warning to the United States, cautioning that allowing Ukraine to conduct Western missile strikes into Russian territory could significantly intensify the ongoing conflict. The message came amid increasing calls from Ukraine for its Western allies to approve the use of long-range weapons for strikes deep within Russia.

Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that any such attack would prompt a “worthy response” from Moscow. His remarks come as tensions continue to rise, with Ukraine pushing for more robust military support from its Western backers.

In a statement, Russia cautioned the US and its allies that supporting Ukraine’s requests could lead to severe and far-reaching consequences, potentially expanding the conflict beyond Europe. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov accused the West of deliberately escalating the war in Ukraine and warned that they were “asking for trouble” by considering loosening restrictions on the use of foreign-supplied weapons.

“The American mentality is that of a master who sits across the ocean, convinced of his safety, expecting others to do the dirty work for him. He expects others to die for him, not just Ukrainians, but also Europeans,” Lavrov stated, as reported by RT.

He further warned that the West’s actions resembled “children playing with matches,” highlighting the dangers of provoking a nuclear-armed nation. Lavrov urged restraint and called for renewed diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict peacefully, emphasizing the importance of seeking a peaceful resolution to avoid a broader escalation.
