“You’re in PDP, But We’re Scared of You” – Keyamo Hails Enugu Governor Mbah at Launch of Enugu Air

Enugu State witnessed a milestone on Monday with the official launch of Enugu Air, an event marked by high praise from the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, who commended Governor Peter Mbah for his leadership and achievements. Despite belonging to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mbah was described by Keyamo as one of Nigeria’s top-performing governors.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Enugu, Keyamo echoed sentiments recently expressed by President Bola Tinubu, acknowledging Mbah’s governance as progressive and impactful. “Dr Peter Mbah, you’re in PDP, but we’re scared of you. The way you’re going, we don’t know what will happen, and we don’t know how to drop a scheme to defeat you, but we will be planning,” he said. “Beyond party lines, we should not be afraid to say it. You have a progressive spirit, you’ve done well for Enugu State.”

The minister urged the state government to ensure that Enugu Air operates with professional standards and is free from political and bureaucratic interference. “Do not let Enugu Air go the way of Nigerian Airways. Run it professionally and do not let bureaucracy kill Enugu Air. Be prompt in your departure and arrival,” he advised.

Enugu Air will commence operations with three Embraer jets from the E170 and E190 series, selected for their efficiency and comfort on regional routes. Its initial network will link Enugu, Abuja, and Lagos in a triangular route, with expansion plans targeting other major Nigerian cities such as Port Harcourt, Owerri, Benin, and Kano, as well as international destinations.
