Young Man Collapses and Dies During Football Match in Minna
A young man identified as Yakubu tragically lost his life while playing football in Minna, Niger State.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, during a pre-wedding football match at the UBE Primary School field in New Market, Minna. According to local journalist Lanre Sadiq, Yakubu suddenly collapsed in the middle of the game. Despite immediate efforts to save him, he was rushed to the hospital, where doctors confirmed his death on arrival.
This marks the third fatal collapse at the New Market football field. Last year, a young man known as ABK also died after collapsing during a match at the same location.
Yakubu’s funeral prayer is scheduled for 9:00 AM today in Sayako, New Market, Minna.
