“You Cannot Insult and Attack Your Way Out of SMELL in Lagos – Get to Work and Fix It,” Aisha Yesufu Tells Lagos Commissioner
Nigerian activist Aisha Yesufu has called on the Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, to focus on addressing the state’s sanitation issues rather than reacting negatively to public criticism.
In a post shared on X, Yesufu reminded the commissioner that former governor Babatunde Fashola faced similar complaints about Lagos but chose to act rather than attack. She praised Fashola’s approach of rolling up his sleeves and cleaning up the state, and encouraged Wahab to do the same.
“You cannot insult and attack your way out of SMELL in Lagos. Get to work and fix it,” Yesufu wrote, stressing the need for proactive leadership and visible improvement in waste management across the city.
