“You Can Only Contest Against Nwifuru on Social Media” — Umahi
Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has thrown his weight behind Governor Francis Nwifuru’s second-term bid, declaring that any opposition to the Ebonyi leader exists only on social media. Umahi made the endorsement on Saturday during the Ohanivo 2025 New Yam Festival in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The former governor stressed that Nwifuru’s mandate is firmly rooted in the people and cannot be challenged by those seeking to “reap where they did not sow.” He dismissed speculations of political rifts, saying attempts to pit him against his successor would fail.
“It’s Governor Nwifuru for eight years, Tinubu for eight years and nothing will stop it because God has said it,” Umahi declared. He further noted that both President Bola Tinubu and Governor Nwifuru have shown commitment to fairness and national unity, a reason he believes Ebonyi people have no grounds to withhold their support.
Umahi’s comments come as political maneuvering intensifies ahead of the 2027 general elections, with his remarks signaling a consolidation of support for Governor Nwifuru within the state’s ruling structure.
