Yahaya Bello Reacts to Natasha’s Appeal Court Victory
The Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has graciously acknowledged the recent Appeal Court verdict that firmly establishes Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as the legitimate candidate for the Kogi Central Senatorial District.
Bello, a prominent figure of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has extended his hearty congratulations to Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He has also acknowledged the dedication of all individuals who played a part in the democratic process that led to this judgment.
In a gesture of statesmanship, Governor Bello has called upon all residents of the state to accept and respect the court’s decision.
This development stems from a crucial ruling handed down by the Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, which unequivocally reaffirmed Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as the rightful candidate in the Kogi Central Senatorial Election, initially conducted in February.
In a significant blow to her rival, Abubakar Ohere, the court decisively dismissed his appeal on the grounds of lacking merit.
This latest judicial episode follows a landmark decision by the Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal in September, where Abubakar Ohere’s victory as the APC candidate in the Kogi Central Senatorial Election was nullified. The tribunal’s verdict declared Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as the rightful winner of the February senatorial poll.
Undeterred by this setback, Abubakar Ohere chose to pursue justice through the appellate court, only to meet the same outcome as the Court of Appeal upheld Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s victory in this significant electoral battle.
