Worry Grows as King Sunny Ade’s Daughter Declares Him Missing
Legendary Juju musician King Sunny Ade has been declared missing by his daughter, Damilola Esther Adeniyi-Adegeye, igniting widespread concern across social media platforms.
In a series of viral posts, Damilola alleged that her father had been kidnapped by his stepbrother and manager, Dayo, alongside other family members. She also revealed worries about the 78-year-old music icon’s declining health and accused those responsible of exploiting him both financially and professionally.
On April 28, 2025, media personality @Akanbitheduke took to Instagram to amplify Damilola’s concerns. In a lengthy post, he explained that he had personally tried to contact King Sunny Ade, but was unsuccessful, later learning about the situation through a friend connected to Damilola. According to Akanbi, multiple attempts by close associates to reach the musician had failed. He further stated that Damilola claimed her father had been unreachable for some time, and that she believed his stepbrother Dayo and other relatives were behind the alleged abduction.
Damilola also accused the group of forcing King Sunny Ade into signing up for numerous performances without delivering shows, damaging his reputation. She alleged that the same individuals controlled the singer’s finances to the detriment of his biological children.
Her fears reportedly intensified after her last conversation with her father, during which he sounded distressed before the call was abruptly cut off. Akanbi shared that Damilola found it particularly alarming that no further contact could be made with her father after that call, and despite her personal efforts to raise alarm, her concerns seemed to have been ignored initially.
