Woman Dies After Jumping Off Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos
A yet-to-be-identified woman lost her life on Thursday after reportedly jumping off the Third Mainland Bridge into the waters near the University of Lagos (UNILAG) waterfront. The tragic incident occurred around 4 p.m., prompting a swift response from marine police officers stationed nearby.
Despite immediate rescue efforts by the marine police team, the woman was pronounced dead by medical personnel from UNILAG upon arrival at the shore. Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident on Friday, stating that officers from the Sabo Police Division were present during the confirmation of her death.
The body of the deceased has been moved to the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) Mortuary in Yaba for preservation, as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
