Woman Allegedly Poisons Three Children to Death Over Husband’s Infidelity
A Kenyan woman has been arrested following the deaths of her three young children in what police believe was a premeditated act linked to a domestic dispute.
The suspect, identified as Linet Munala, is accused of poisoning her one-year-old twin daughters and their four-year-old brother at their residence in Mlolongo Phase III, Machakos County, Kenya. The incident is believed to have occurred on the night of Sunday, January 25, or in the early hours of Monday, January 26, 2026.
The children’s bodies were discovered inside a single-room house at Neema Plaza after the building caretaker alerted authorities. According to police, the twins were found lying together on one bed, while their older brother was on a separate bed. Officers described the room as disorderly, with food items, children’s clothing, school uniforms, and stationery scattered across the floor.
Preliminary investigations suggest that a poisonous substance was mixed into porridge given to the children. Police said a suspected cleaning detergent, believed to be Vim, was found at the scene and may have been used in the poisoning. The children were reportedly found with foam coming from their mouths.
The case was reported to police at about 1pm on Monday after the caretaker received a disturbing message from the suspect, who had already left the house. The message prompted the caretaker and a neighbour to check the room.
“When we arrived, the door was wide open,” the caretaker said. “I entered first and checked one child and immediately realised the child was dead. I then called the police.”
Neighbours told investigators that the suspect had been involved in a heated dispute with her husband over the weekend, allegedly over accusations of infidelity. One neighbour said the woman appeared distressed after claiming that her husband was cheating on her. Another neighbour suggested that ongoing misunderstandings in the marriage may have contributed to the situation.
The suspect was later traced and arrested while allegedly attempting to escape. She is currently being held at Mlolongo Police Station as detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) continue their inquiries.
The scene was documented, and samples were collected for forensic analysis. The bodies of the children were taken to the City Mortuary, where post-mortem examinations will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
Police say investigations are ongoing, and the suspect is expected to be arraigned in court once inquiries are completed.
