Wike-Loyal PDP Faction Calls Emergency BoT and NEC Meetings After Suspension

The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has called for emergency meetings of the party’s Board of Trustees and National Executive Committee on November 18, 2025, signaling rising tensions within the party.

Notices published in Vanguard indicate that both sessions will hold at the NEC Hall of the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja. The Board of Trustees meeting is set to start at 11:00 a.m., with the NEC meeting scheduled for 2:00 p.m. The notice emphasized the importance of attendance, noting that critical matters would be addressed.

The emergency meetings follow the party’s 2025 National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, where Wike and other senior members—including former National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu, former National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, and Imo PDP Chairman Austin Nwachukwu—were expelled for alleged anti-party activities. The motion for expulsion was moved by former PDP Deputy National Chairman (South) Bode George and seconded by Bauchi State PDP Chairman Samaila Buga.
