Wike Is Absolutely Shameless and Cares About Nothing but Alcohol – Dele Momodu

Media mogul and politician Dele Momodu has launched a blistering attack on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, describing him as “absolutely shameless” and driven solely by a thirst for power and alcohol.

Speaking during an appearance on *Politics Today* on Channels Television, Momodu offered an unfiltered account of his former relationship with the ex-Rivers State governor, accusing him of betrayal, hypocrisy, and being unfit for public office. “Wike is absolutely shameless and doesn’t care about anything in this world other than his alcohol,” Momodu said during the televised interview.

According to Momodu, the two were once close allies. Their relationship began in 2022 when he served as a media consultant for Wike. He recalled being warmly received in Port Harcourt, where Wike provided him with a car and treated him with what seemed like respect and admiration. “When Wike needs you, he worships you. When he doesn’t, he tramples on you,” Momodu said.

He went on to describe Wike as a man completely overtaken by the “demonic spirit of power,” citing Paulo Freire’s *Pedagogy of the Oppressed* to argue that Wike had transformed from the oppressed into an even more ruthless oppressor. “He is the classic example of a man who reveres those who dominate him. Once he has power, he becomes worse than those he once feared,” Momodu stated.

The former presidential aspirant also criticized Wike’s personal habits, claiming that the minister boasted about his early-morning drinking routine. “He introduced me to Akeshi, a very strong drink. He said it helps him function. That’s what he told me proudly — this is someone in public office,” Momodu said.

He also took aim at what he called Wike’s hypocrisy and disloyalty, referencing the minister’s broken ties with former political ally Rotimi Amaechi. “They both dined in my home in Accra. Today, Wike insults Amaechi publicly. That’s who Wike is — a user who turns on people as soon as it suits him,” he said.

Momodu explained that the relationship soured in the lead-up to the 2023 elections, when both men expressed interest in running for president under the PDP. He said he formally informed Wike of his intention to contest, only to be mocked and dismissed. “He went on air and said someone like me who lives on Twitter had no business running. That’s when I knew this wasn’t about politics — it was personal,” he said.

He further revealed that a former president advised him to drop out due to the exorbitant cost of PDP’s primary elections, allegedly inflated by Wike. “Wike raised the cost to \$30,000 per delegate — over ₦17 billion in total. Even if I sold my entire family, I couldn’t raise that kind of money,” Momodu said.

Despite acknowledging that his media firm benefited professionally from the association, Momodu stressed that his work significantly boosted Wike’s image. “We gave him proper media training, helped him speak better, and refined his public image. But as they say, you can take a man out of the bush — you can’t take the bush out of the man,” he said.

Momodu’s remarks point to a growing divide within Nigeria’s opposition class, especially among PDP veterans eyeing influence ahead of the 2027 elections. When asked if he harbored any resentment, he said he had moved on but felt it necessary to set the record straight. “I won’t wrestle with a pig, as someone once advised me. But I must speak the truth. Wike does not represent the future Nigerians want,” he concluded.

As of the time of filing this report, Wike and his media team have not issued a response. However, political analysts believe the public feud could intensify in the coming months as alignments shift in preparation for the next electoral cycle.
