Why Tinubu Will Lose in 2027 — Aregbesola
Former Minister of Interior and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has declared that President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will lose power in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking in Ilorin after commissioning the new Kwara State secretariat of the ADC along Basin Road, Aregbesola said the APC’s actions across the country reveal a deep sense of insecurity about its political strength.
“If the APC is truly confident of its popularity, it would not be so jittery and desperate to hound and intimidate opposition members everywhere,” Aregbesola told journalists. “They are harassing our members nationwide — from Lagos to Kebbi and Kaduna. This is not the conduct of a party sure of itself.”
The former Osun State governor argued that the ruling party’s actions show it has lost touch with the people.
“They know they are no longer popular,” he said. “By the grace of God, the ADC will harvest their unpopularity and take over leadership in Nigeria and in most of the states by 2027.”
Commenting on politicians defecting to the APC, Aregbesola said such moves are driven by self-interest rather than public service.
“The governors going to APC are enemies of the people,” he declared. “They are hated, and their departure is good riddance to bad rubbish.”
Also speaking at the event, former Kwara State Governor and new ADC member, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, said the party is ready to lead Nigeria into a new era.
“This marks the beginning of a new political direction in Kwara and across the country,” Ahmed said. “The ADC is prepared to take over the mantle of leadership in 2027.”
In his remarks, ADC National Publicity Secretary and former Minister of Youth and Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, criticized the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing it as “politically irrelevant.”
The event in Ilorin drew a large turnout of party supporters and signaled what ADC leaders described as a new phase in their bid to challenge the dominance of the APC and PDP ahead of the 2027 elections.
