Why Police Ignored Gov Yusuf’s Eviction Order on Ado Bayero – Kano CP
The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel, has provided insights into why the police command disregarded Governor Abba Yusuf’s directive to evict deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero from the Nasarawa mini palace.
The governor’s eviction order followed a ruling by Justice Liman of the Federal High Court in Kano. Despite the directive issued on Thursday, Commissioner Gumel clarified during a Friday press briefing that executing the order would be premature.
“The police will not evict Ado Bayero because the same government has filed a case at the state high court on the eviction order, which will be heard on Monday, June 24,” Gumel stated. He emphasized that enforcing the eviction ahead of the court’s decision would equate to pre-empting the judicial process.
To ensure security, the four major routes leading to the Nasarawa mini palace have been cordoned off by security personnel.
