Why I Will not Contest Ododo’s Victory at Tribunal – Dino Melaye
Dino Melaye, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the recent Kogi governorship election, has declared his decision not to contest the electoral triumph of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the November 11 polls. Melaye attributes his choice to a profound loss of confidence in the judiciary, asserting that it no longer serves as the ultimate recourse for ordinary Nigerians.
On Wednesday, Melaye voiced his skepticism, claiming, “The Judiciary is no longer the last hope of the ordinary people; it’s now a department under the All Progressives Congress.”
“Why should any responsible person go to the tribunal when the APC has captured the judiciary? I’ve lost complete confidence in the judiciary,” he emphatically declared.
It is noteworthy that Usman Ododo of the APC was declared the victor of the governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Ododo secured the win by defeating Melaye and the Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) Muri Ajaka in a closely contested race.
