“Why I Plotted to Kill President Trump” — Indiana Woman Arrested After Online Threats
A 50-year-old woman from Indiana has been arrested and charged with plotting to assassinate President Donald Trump after federal investigators uncovered a series of violent threats she allegedly posted on social media.
The woman, identified as Nathalie Rose Jones, was taken into custody in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, August 16. Prosecutors say she faces charges of threatening to kill, kidnap, or harm the President, as well as transmitting interstate threats online.
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro, who announced the charges, said the case underscores the seriousness with which threats against the President are handled. “Threatening the life of the President is one of the most serious crimes and one that will be met with swift and unwavering prosecution,” Pirro said.
According to court documents, the U.S. Secret Service began monitoring Jones’s social media activity between August 2 and August 15. Using the account “Nath.Jones,” she allegedly referred to Trump as a “terrorist” and a “dictator,” blaming him for what she described as “extreme and unnecessary loss of life” during the COVID-19 pandemic. On August 6, she reportedly posted a graphic threat directed at the FBI, declaring her willingness to “sacrificially kill” the President. She also sent a message to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth demanding a “removal ceremony” at the White House on August 16.
Agents interviewed Jones on August 15, when she allegedly admitted she would take Trump’s life if given the chance, saying she had a bladed weapon that could be used to “carry out her mission.” She said she wanted to avenge lives lost during the pandemic, which she blamed on Trump’s administration.
The following day, Jones attended a protest near the White House. Afterward, she admitted to owning the social media accounts and confirmed writing the threatening posts. She was immediately arrested.
Special Agent in Charge Matt McCool of the U.S. Secret Service stressed the seriousness of the matter. “Protecting the President of the United States is our highest priority, and every potential threat is addressed with the utmost seriousness,” he said. “Agents acted swiftly and decisively to neutralize this alleged threat before it could escalate.”
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Josh Satter.
