Why I Converted from Islam to Christianity – Singer, Khaid

In a recent episode of the popular Zero Conditions podcast, the sensational singer, Sulaimon Shekoni Solomon, known by his stage name, Khaid, candidly opened up about his conversion from Islam to Christianity. At the age of 19, Khaid shared the reasons behind this significant life choice.

Khaid’s religious background is diverse, being born to a Muslim father and a Christian mother. He grew up attending the mosque as part of his upbringing. However, he made the life-altering decision to convert to Christianity due to his personal beliefs and preferences.

The young artist explained, “I was a Muslim before because my dad was a Muslim, and my mum was a Christian. So, I just felt the connection to Christianity more.” Khaid’s transition was influenced by his reluctance to attend the mosque, a practice his father enforced during his younger years.

He further elaborated on his experience, saying, “Right from the start, I didn’t like going to the mosque actually. My dad forced me. But my parents were free-minded people. They told my siblings and me that we could choose any religion we wanted.” Despite this freedom, Khaid’s living environment influenced his early religious choices. He noted, “We live among Muslims, and my dad didn’t want it to seem like he didn’t have control over his children, so he used to force me to go to the mosque.”

Khaid’s initial compliance was driven by a desire to please his father, leading him to attend the mosque for a period. However, as time passed, he decided to make the switch and began attending church. “My elder sister and younger brother are Muslims,” he revealed, “but me and the rest of the five are Christians.”

Khaid’s personal journey reflects the complexities of religious identity in a diverse world, where individuals often make choices that align with their own beliefs and experiences. His story serves as a testament to the power of personal conviction and choice when it comes to matters of faith.
