Why Atiku, Obi Should Accept Tribunal Verdict – Rev Pam
The Executive Secretary, Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, Rev. Yakubu Pam, has urged the Peoples Democratic Party and Labour Party, to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship and accept the tribunal’s verdict to move the country forward.
The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal on Wednesday, upheld the victory of President Bola Tinubu as the winner of the February 25 presidential election.
The tribunal, which was led by the chairman of the panel, Justice Haruna Tsammani, ruled that the presidential candidates of PDP and LP; Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, and their parties, had no merit in their petitions before the five-man judicial panel.
Addressing the press on Thursday, Pam said the verdict by the judges was a victory for all Nigerians.
He congratulated Atiku and Obi for seeking redress through the court, urging them to accept the verdict.
Pam said “The victory is not to the President alone but to Nigerians as well.
“I have seen where people are congratulating President Bola Tinubu but this congratulation should be extended to all Nigerians for the victory of democracy.
“But that does not mean that those who took this matter to court are not right. The best way to address most of our issues is through the court. First, I want to congratulate them because the courage to take such a matter to the court is indeed what we need as Nigerians.
“They are all my brothers and friends. They should imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship and accept the verdict so that the country can move forward.”
Pam, who noted that not all Nigerians would accept the verdict, commended the judiciary for standing strong.
He said “We commend our judiciary for standing strong and to continue to do the right thing.
“I know that not everybody will accept the verdict but we will continue as humans to work towards the unity of this country.”
