Wheelchair-Bound Tourist Robbed by Three Prostitutes After Inviting Them to His Hotel Room
A 60-year-old British tourist was reportedly robbed by three prostitutes after inviting them back to his hotel room in Pattaya, Thailand.
Chris John Glennon, who uses a wheelchair and has a speech disability, took two Thai women and a transgender woman from Pattaya’s lively beachfront area to his room at the Basaya Beach Hotel and Resort on Tuesday night. The incident occurred shortly after he left the trio in the room and went to take a shower.
According to police, the women took advantage of the situation and quickly fled the room with approximately 6,000 Baht (about £140), which Glennon had intended to pay them with, along with an additional £150 in British currency he had not yet exchanged. The theft came to light when Glennon wheeled himself to the front desk and alerted hotel staff, who then contacted Pattaya City Police.
Officers arrived at the hotel shortly after midnight, around 12:16 a.m. on Wednesday, and began an investigation. Two of the suspects were identified as Chantakarn Donlueam and transgender individual Ekkarat Marknok, after they submitted their ID cards at the hotel reception during check-in. The third suspect remains unidentified, having not provided any identification upon arrival.
Police Captain Anirut Jehrah confirmed that investigators have collected key evidence, including security camera footage and copies of the suspects’ IDs. “We have recorded the case and are now reviewing CCTV footage to track the suspects. We are pursuing prosecution,” he said.
A staff member at the Basaya Beach Hotel noted that Glennon had been a regular guest, staying at the hotel four or five times previously without any issues. “He checked in alone on June 24 and had been staying quietly. He usually uses his phone to communicate with staff due to his speech difficulty,” the employee said.
“According to the CCTV footage, three people—either women or transgender women—were seen leaving the building quickly after the incident. Only two left ID cards with us,” she added.
Another employee confirmed that Glennon had previously brought guests to his room during earlier visits without any problems. “He’s never caused any trouble. We deliver food to his room regularly, and everything had been normal until this incident.”
Police are urging anyone with information about the third suspect or the whereabouts of the group to come forward as the investigation continues.
