“What God Cannot Do Does Not Exist” – Oshiomhole on Okpebholo’s Victory in Edo Guber Election
In the aftermath of the Edo State governorship election, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North and former governor of the state, has attributed the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Monday Okpebholo, to the will of God.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Okpebholo as the winner of the closely contested election. He secured 291,667 votes, defeating his main opponent, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 247,274 votes.
Speaking to journalists in Benin City on Sunday night, Oshiomhole praised the outcome, emphasizing that “what God cannot do does not exist.” He further noted, “Those with wisdom know that power only resides with God.”
Addressing the election, he remarked, “When some people said the election was do or die, we said no. It is about choice.” Oshiomhole added that Okpebholo’s victory was God’s way of correcting what he described as the “disastrous” governance of outgoing Governor Godwin Obaseki and PDP candidate Ighodalo.
