#EdoDecides2024: We Pray INEC Continues Like This – APC

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Jeret Tenebe, has expressed optimism over the performance of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the just-concluded governorship election. Speaking to journalists in Benin on Sunday, Tenebe commended INEC’s conduct, describing the election as the fairest he has ever witnessed in the state.

Tenebe emphasized the importance of INEC maintaining the same standards in future elections, noting that such improvements would lead to a stronger and more credible electoral process across Nigeria.

“The election we saw yesterday is the fairest ever conducted in this state, and we pray INEC continues this way. If they maintain this standard, the country is heading towards a proper and transparent electoral process,” Tenebe stated.

He also dismissed allegations that the APC rigged the election in favor of its candidate, Monday Okpebholo, insisting that the results reflect the will of the people. According to the APC chairman, the Governor-elect is committed to delivering development and empowering both women and youths in the state.

“This victory is not just for APC but for the entire Edo State. Okpebholo will bring development, empower the youths, and unite the state. The election result is a reflection of the people’s choice,” he added.

Tenebe further attributed the defeat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo, to the unpopularity of Governor Godwin Obaseki, stating that many voters had distanced themselves from his administration.

“Nobody wants to be associated with Obaseki. This victory is a clear statement from the people,” he concluded.
