“We’ve No Zoning Arrangement for Anambra 2025,” Says APC
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra has refuted claims of a zoning arrangement for the 2025 governorship election. This announcement dispels speculation that the APC had agreed to zone the governorship ticket to the Anambra South Senatorial District.
According to Dr. Valentine Iyke-Oliobi, the APC Publicity Secretary in Anambra, the alleged zoning plan was falsely attributed to the APC by a group led by Chief Innocent Obi, claiming to represent the APC Elders Forum. Dr. Oliobi clarified in a statement released on Saturday that the APC has never endorsed any zoning arrangement for the governorship position.
“It has come to the attention of the Anambra State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding a trending story purportedly published by a group known as the APC Elders Forum led by one Chief Innocent Obi, claiming that the zoning of the APC 2025 governorship ticket to the Anambra South Senatorial District should be sacrosanct,” Oliobi stated. “The APC wants to categorically state that our party has no zoning arrangements whatsoever.”
The APC emphasized its commitment to providing a level playing field for all aspirants, regardless of their senatorial districts. The party also distanced itself from any agreement with other political parties regarding zoning, attributing such claims to misinformation.
“We call on well-meaning members of our party to disregard the publication insinuating any existing zoning arrangement by the APC,” Oliobi continued. “The APC also wishes to caution against any form of unnecessary rhetoric or utterances by party members or groups that are capable of heating up the polity ahead of the 2025 governorship election season.”
Oliobi reassured members that any critical decisions would be made collectively within the party, emphasizing unity and a collective approach to decision-making. He also took the opportunity to critique the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), accusing it of mismanaging the state’s affairs for the past 18 years.
The APC’s stance aims to quell any rumors and maintain focus on offering a viable alternative to Anambra’s current political leadership.
