“We’re Impressed by Tinubu’s Security Strategies” – UK Govt
The United Kingdom has expressed its admiration for President Bola Tinubu’s security strategies, highlighting its continued support for the Nigerian government’s focus on transparency and accountability in governance. This was conveyed by the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr. Richard Montgomery, during a High-level Dialogue on Delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda in Abuja.
Dr. Montgomery commended President Tinubu’s agenda for its prioritization and effective delivery. “I’d like to use this opportunity to express the full support of my government for the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu. We commend his agenda for its focus on priorities and delivery. We acknowledge that you have done a lot to put in place transparency and accountability,” he stated.
The dialogue, themed “Nigeria’s Global Ambitions: From Hope to Reality,” saw various key figures in attendance. Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Doris Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite, opened the forum with warm appreciation for the participants, emphasizing the significance of advancing Nigeria’s economic agenda under President Tinubu.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, praised the efforts of stakeholders led by Vice President Shettima, noting the forum’s role in reflecting on the past year and planning for the next three years. He stressed the importance of international cooperation in achieving the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Minister of Budget and National Planning, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu, reflected on President Tinubu’s first year in office as both challenging and successful. He assured that the administration is committed to renewing the hope of Nigerians through international cooperation, rooted in Nigeria’s development plans.
Representing the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, Senior Special Assistant to the President on International Cooperation, Mr. Dapo Oyewole, reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to long-lasting global partnerships. “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s foreign policy will continue to accommodate the interests of all Nigerians and ensure mutual and beneficial partnerships with all nations,” Oyewole said.
The Managing Director of the Bank of Industry, Dr. Olasupo Olusi, highlighted the transformative power of strategic partnerships in driving economic growth under the Tinubu administration. He emphasized the importance of leveraging international cooperation to enhance trade, investment, and sustainable development in Nigeria.
Other notable attendees included Deputy Chief of Staff to the President (Office of the Vice President) Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, Minister of Women Affairs Mrs. Uju Kenedy Ohaneye, European Union Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS Amb. Samuel Isopi, and Acting Country Director of the World Bank in Nigeria.
