“We’re Bringing Peter Obi Back to PDP” – Jerry Gana
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is actively working to bring back former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, ahead of the 2027 general elections, according to party chieftain and former Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana.
Speaking in an interview with AIT on Friday, Gana revealed that the PDP is reaching out to Obi and other former members in a bid to rebuild and strengthen the opposition party.
“Why not?” Gana responded when asked if contact had been made with Obi. “He is not the only person. We are also reaching out to others. But I don’t want to make any announcements until things are finalized.”
The elder statesman added that the party has undergone significant improvements since the last election cycle:
> “I now have a very solid platform. I can go back to these people and say: the platform you were complaining about is now set, proper, and ready to move. I know many of them would respond.”
Peter Obi, who left the PDP on May 25, 2022, joined the Labour Party two days later and emerged as its presidential candidate for the 2023 general election.
The PDP’s outreach comes as part of a broader strategy to consolidate the opposition and strengthen its chances ahead of the 2027 polls.
