“We’ll Mobilise 35 Million Voters to Unseat Tinubu, APC in 2027” – ADC
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has pledged to mobilise at least 35 million voters in a determined effort to unseat the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu if he seeks re-election in 2027. The party’s National Chairman, Ralphs Okey Nwosu, made this bold declaration during the ADC Global Summit held in Abuja on Wednesday.
Nwosu criticised the legitimacy of the current presidency, which, he noted, was secured with fewer than 10 million votes despite Nigeria having over 88 million registered voters ahead of the 2023 general election. He said the ADC is working to reposition itself as a viable alternative and aims to reverse the deep-rooted voter apathy that has characterised recent polls.
The party’s strategy, Nwosu explained, includes engaging disillusioned voters who have abandoned the electoral process and reaching out to millions of young Nigerians who turned 18 after the last election. He disclosed that civil society organisations that recently aligned with the ADC have already registered over five million members, with a target to mobilise at least 20 million voters.
Describing the 35 million target as conservative given the scale of national challenges, Nwosu said the ADC is confident of a historic victory in the next presidential election. He added that the party is building what he called the “biggest coalition of patriots,” uniting several political parties and people-driven groups in a collective bid to defeat the APC in 2027.
