“We’ll Dislodge Opposition in Edo, Anambra, Other Southeast States,” APC’s Ganduje Vows

In a recent statement, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), declared the party’s commitment to dislodging opposition parties in key states, including Edo and Anambra, while extending its influence across the Southeast region. Speaking during a meeting with members of the Kano Correspondent Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ganduje highlighted the party’s strategies and the establishment of a new intellectual wing, the Progressive Institute, to address national challenges.

Ganduje emphasized that the APC is “battle ready” for the upcoming elections in Edo, Ondo, and Anambra, expressing confidence in reclaiming Edo, a former APC stronghold, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He cited the party’s high spirits and strong campaign efforts as key factors in their strategy.

The APC Chairman also outlined the party’s plans for the Southeast, where he criticized the region’s political fragmentation among multiple parties. Ganduje revealed a new initiative aimed at reducing this fragmentation, starting with a strong push to capture Anambra State in the 2024 elections. He underscored the importance of political consolidation in the Southeast to enhance the region’s bargaining power.

In addition to electoral strategies, Ganduje discussed the role of the Progressive Institute, which will analyze pressing national issues and provide policy solutions to the government. He pointed to past initiatives, such as the national conference on livestock reforms, which led to the creation of the Ministry of Livestock, as examples of the Institute’s impact. Upcoming plans include addressing youth unemployment and reforming the national curriculum to produce more employable graduates.

Ganduje concluded by hinting at the APC’s plans for internal party reforms, including the introduction of e-registration for members and enhancing internal democracy, to ensure the party remains active beyond election years.
