“We’ll Defeat Terrorism and Build a Prosperous Nigeria,” Tinubu Vows

President Bola Tinubu has pledged to intensify the fight against terrorism while deepening Nigeria’s diplomatic engagement with world leaders. Speaking at the Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja on Thursday—the first since July—Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s determination to secure the nation and strengthen global partnerships.

“We are engaging the world diplomatically, and we assure all of you that we will defeat terrorism. The task ahead is to move forward with clarity of purpose guided by the Renewed Hope agenda to build a prosperous Nigeria,” the president declared before the council entered a closed-door session at the Aso Rock Villa.

Tinubu’s remarks followed U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent decision to designate Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern,” a move the Federal Government described as an inaccurate portrayal of the nation’s security reality. He noted that Nigeria’s successful $2.3 billion Eurobond issuance, which was oversubscribed, demonstrated renewed investor confidence in the economy. “Despite political headwinds and fears, we will continue to engage with our partners. The task ahead is immense, but we are resolved to move forward with unity and purpose,” Tinubu said.

The president commended his cabinet for their dedication to the Renewed Hope Agenda and called for continued unity and focus in executing government reforms. He assured Nigerians that the nation remains steadfast in its pursuit of peace, stability, and prosperity.
