Weeks After Discipleship Graduation, Tonto Dikeh Leads First Deliverance Session

Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh says she has conducted what appears to be her first deliverance ministry, weeks after completing a discipleship programme at Streams of Joy International, the church led by Jerry Eze.

In February, the actress shared a video on Instagram showing the certificate she received after finishing the church’s discipleship class. She described the experience as a spiritual turning point that reshaped her faith, outlook on life and sense of service.

Earlier this week, the 40-year-old also announced that she would no longer use the nickname “King Tonto,” saying the decision was made in obedience to the Holy Spirit.

“It gladdens my heart that I can do this on the first day of March; it aligns with the prophecy of God upon my life that He’s marching me away from everything that is old and into the prophecies that are new every morning,” she said.

Dikeh later shared details of an evangelism outreach she and her team carried out at a school. According to her Instagram post, the incident occurred as they were leaving the school premises after the outreach.

She said she sensed what she described as “a spirit of death” around the environment and informed members of her team, who immediately began to pray.

Shortly afterwards, a female student approached her and requested prayers. The girl reportedly said she had repeatedly seen bats appearing around her and was frightened by the experience.

Dikeh said the group prayed for the student and described the moment as a spiritual confrontation.

“The spirit of death was confronted, the demonic attack was broken, and God’s power brought deliverance,” she wrote. She added that the student had earlier been among those who gave their lives to Christ during the outreach.

Videos shared alongside the post show the actress praying for the girl, who was dressed in a school uniform. During the prayer session, the student appeared overwhelmed and had to be supported by members of Dikeh’s team.

The actress also said more than 100 students responded to the evangelism message during the visit.

The videos have generated mixed reactions online. While some supporters welcomed the actress’ new religious focus, others raised concerns about the recording and publication of a minor’s image.

Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria protects the privacy of citizens, including children. The Child Rights Act also guarantees a child’s right to privacy, including in digital spaces.

Legal experts note that recording or sharing images of a child without parental consent, particularly when it could affect the child’s safety or reputation, may also raise issues under the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act 2015.

Dikeh said her team plans to continue following up with the student as part of what she described as ongoing spiritual support.
