We Have Rescued the Six Law Students Kidnapped on Their Way to Adamawa – Benue Police
Six law students abducted along the Benue-Taraba boundary have been rescued by the Benue State Police Command. The students were traveling from Anambra State to the Nigerian Law School in Yola, Adamawa State, when they were kidnapped on July 28, 2025.
In a statement released on Friday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Udeme Edet, the police confirmed that the students were freed and reunited with their families on the morning of August 1. Edet said the victims were intercepted by kidnappers near the border between Benue and Taraba states while en route to resume at the Yola campus.
News of the abduction was first made public by Nigerian Bar Association President, Afam Osigwe, during the NBA’s North-Central regional security summit held in Makurdi. Osigwe condemned the incident and decried the worsening security conditions in the region, which has experienced repeated attacks in recent years.
