“We Deserve a Self-Control Allowance; Female Students Are Becoming Too Attractive,” Ghanaian Teacher Says, Sparking Outrage
A Ghanaian teacher has sparked widespread debate after calling on the government to provide male teachers with a “self-control allowance,” claiming that female students are becoming increasingly attractive.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, the teacher appealed to the Minister of Education, saying that male teachers struggle to maintain self-control while teaching Senior High School girls. He argued that teachers face a daily challenge due to the way students dress and present themselves.
“The Minister of Education, I stand for my colleagues. In fact, we deserve a self-control allowance. Teachers are suffering. It is not easy to control oneself for three years teaching these kids,” he said. “The kind of food they are eating, the way they dress, it makes them look attractive, but they are very young. It is not easy for us to control ourselves.”
The comments have elicited strong reactions online. Some Ghanaians defended the teacher’s statement, while others have called for his arrest and prosecution, condemning the remarks as inappropriate and unacceptable.
