Video: Rivers Government Reveals Identity of Suspected Port Harcourt Bomber
The Rivers State Government has disclosed the identity of the suspect behind the recent explosion in Port Harcourt. In a statement by Nelson Chukwudi, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Sim Fubara, the suspect was identified as Josiah Preye, a university graduate residing in Port Harcourt.
Preye, a supporter of the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, allegedly participated in a solidarity walk on Tuesday in support of the minister. The government presented a video as evidence, showing Preye carrying an improvised explosive device during the protest.
“Josiah Preye was part of the protest on Monday and on Day 2, he is seen in this video carrying an improvised explosive device, with specific instructions on how to use, where, and when to detonate the device,” the statement read.
The government accused the protest sponsors of intending to create chaos and justify calls for a state of emergency in Rivers State. The explosion was planned to take place near the Hotel Presidential on the Port Harcourt-Aba Expressway but failed, resulting in severe injuries to Preye, who is now in intensive care.
The state government urged security agencies to take action and bring those involved in the failed bombing to justice.
Josiah Preye, a graduate of Imo State University, works at Sky Packing Materials Trd: LLC and resides in Port Harcourt.
