Video: President Tinubu Stumbles, Falls During Reception in Turkey
President Bola Tinubu lost his footing during a reception parade in Ankara, Turkey, and was helped to his feet by several officials.
Video footage trending online shows the President stumbling while greeting Turkish officials. At the time, he was walking alongside President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. There has been no official statement on the incident. Tinubu’s health has recently drawn public attention.
The State House confirmed that President Tinubu arrived in Ankara on Monday evening for a state visit. His aircraft landed at Esenboğa Airport at 9:03 p.m. local time, where he was received by a Turkish delegation led by Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin, alongside officials from the Nigerian Embassy.
Upon arrival at his hotel, Tinubu was greeted by key members of his cabinet, including Attorney General and Minister of Justice Lateef Fagbemi, Finance Minister Wale Edun, Minister of Solid Minerals Dele Alake, and Defence Minister Gen. Christopher Musa (rtd). Other senior officials present included Ministers Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim, Kingsley Udeh, and John Enoh, as well as the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.
The visit aims to strengthen diplomatic ties between Nigeria and Türkiye, with scheduled discussions between the two presidents and the signing of Memoranda of Understanding covering areas of cooperation.
