Video: “Obi Cannot Enter Edo Without Telling Me – His Security Won’t Be Guaranteed” – Gov Okpebholo

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has issued a stark warning to former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, declaring that Obi must seek his approval before visiting the state—or risk his safety.

In a video now circulating widely, Okpebholo said, “There is a new sheriff in town. He cannot come to Edo without telling me, because his security will never be guaranteed. Whatever happens to him when he is in Edo State, he will take it. I am serious about it.”

The governor also questioned Obi’s donation of N15 million during a previous visit, accusing him of hypocrisy and linking the visit to unrest that reportedly led to the deaths of three people in Benin.

This is the second time Obi has been warned off by an APC-led state. In April, Benue’s Governor Hyacinth Alia issued a similar message ahead of Obi’s planned visit to an IDP camp.

The threat has sparked public outcry, with many Nigerians alarmed by what they see as open political intimidation and an attack on the right to free movement.
