Video: Director of Public Prosecution, Barrister Peter Awa, Shot Dead in Anambra State
Barrister Peter Awa, the Director of Public Prosecution for Anambra State and immediate Vice Chairman of the NBA Ihiala Branch, has been shot dead by unknown gunmen.
Information reaching SK Blog reveals that the prominent lawyer was killed in his hometown of Okija, Ihiala Local Government Area, on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at approximately 8 PM. A video of his lifeless body has been shared on social media groups by mourners, depicting the community’s grief and disbelief.
Witnesses recount that Awa was in his car, talking to someone on a bike, when gunmen in another vehicle intercepted him, dragged him out, and shot him point-blank. Colleagues describe Awa as a brilliant lawyer and a jovial individual dedicated to justice for the oppressed. His assassination has plunged the legal community in Anambra State into mourning.
This incident marks the second assassination of a prominent lawyer in the terror-ravaged Ihiala Local Government Area this year. Earlier, Chief Jude Oguejiofor Esq was abducted and murdered in Orsumoghu town on January 17th.
