VeryDarkMan Reveals Why He Was Arrested
Popular Nigerian social commentator VeryDarkMan has revealed the reason behind his recent arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He was taken into custody on Friday, May 2, after visiting a GTBank branch in Abuja, an incident that quickly drew national attention. The arrest sparked protests across EFCC offices, as fans and celebrities decried what they called an unlawful detention. He was released five days later, on the evening of Wednesday, May 7.
Speaking in a viral video following his release, VeryDarkMan disclosed that he was accused of being involved in money laundering. He expressed disbelief over the allegation, questioning how such suspicions could arise given his financial status. “They think I am into money laundering. How would they put money laundering for person wey no get money?” he said. He went on to explain that his charitable activities, often funded through debt, may have been misunderstood by authorities. Wrapping up the video, he announced that he is now free, adding, “We are outside, with my lawyer, of course.”
