VeryDarkMan Apologizes to Femi Falana Over Allegations Involving Bobrisky
Social media influencer Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, has issued an “unreserved apology” to prominent human rights lawyer Femi Falana, SAN, following derogatory allegations made against him concerning cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky. The apology came after Otse’s recent comments raised eyebrows and sparked controversy.
During his appearance before the Nigerian House of Representatives, VeryDarkMan clarified that he does not believe Falana was involved in any bribery related to Bobrisky and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He stated, “Apparently now, some people are taking advantage of what is going to target Femi Falana,” expressing regret for including Falana’s name in his audio comments. He added, “It’s so sad that his name was inside that audio; I couldn’t believe it.”
VeryDarkMan had previously called for a thorough investigation into the allegations, asserting that he never intended to defame Falana. He mentioned receiving additional information indicating that officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) were also implicated in the matter.
Falana responded to VeryDarkMan’s allegations earlier this week, asserting that he never spoke to Bobrisky regarding any potential pardon or related issues. In a letter dated September 25, 2024, from his legal team at Falana & Falana’s Chambers, the senior lawyer addressed VeryDarkMan’s Instagram post, which claimed Falana had attempted to “divert justice” by speaking with Bobrisky and sought a presidential pardon in exchange for N10 million. The letter outlined that these allegations were defamatory and questioned Falana’s integrity.
In a subsequent Instagram post, VeryDarkMan claimed to possess additional evidence regarding his exposé on Bobrisky, including a voice note in which Bobrisky allegedly indicated serving his sentence in a private apartment.
