“Utterly condemnable, barbaric and inhumane” — Zulum reacts to Maiduguri explosions, urges calm
Governor Babagana Zulum has condemned the bomb explosions that occurred in Maiduguri, describing the incident as “utterly condemnable, barbaric and inhumane.”
The explosions, which took place on Monday in parts of the city, left several people injured and triggered panic among residents. Emergency responders were deployed to the affected areas to assist victims and secure the scenes.
In a statement released late Monday, the governor said attacks targeting civilians and places of worship are unacceptable, particularly during a period when many Muslims are engaged in religious observances.
He expressed sympathy to families of those affected and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
Zulum also called on residents to remain calm while staying alert, urging communities to improve vigilance in public spaces, including mosques, churches, and markets.
He added that security agencies have begun investigations to track down those responsible, assuring the public that the perpetrators will be held accountable.
