U.S. Secret Service Launches Recruitment Drive with $75,000 Signing Incentive
The United States Secret Service has launched a nationwide recruitment campaign for its Uniformed Division, offering incentives of up to $75,000 to attract new officers as part of efforts to reinforce its protective operations.
The announcement was made on Monday via the agency’s official X account, outlining requirements, responsibilities, and benefits for prospective candidates.
According to the agency, applicants must be U.S. citizens aged between 20 and 40. Eligibility extends to individuals who acquired citizenship by birth, through American parents, or via naturalisation. Candidates are also required to hold a valid driver’s licence, pass medical and background checks, and qualify for top secret security clearance.
Officers in the Uniformed Division are tasked with securing key government sites and supporting high-level protective missions. These include safeguarding the White House, the Vice President’s residence, and the Treasury Building, as well as assisting in operations involving the President, Vice President, and visiting foreign dignitaries.
Personnel may also be deployed to specialised units such as counter-sniper teams, emergency response groups, and K-9 units, depending on operational needs.
The recruitment process involves multiple stages, including entrance examinations, interviews, background investigations, and physical fitness assessments. Successful applicants will undergo 13 weeks of training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, followed by 18 weeks of specialised instruction at the James J. Rowley Training Center.
The agency stated that the $75,000 incentive will be disbursed in instalments over four years, subject to completion of training and continued service.
Starting salaries for new officers range from $77,987 to $134,165 annually, depending on qualifications and career progression. Officials say the initiative is part of a broader plan to expand staffing and strengthen security coverage for critical government infrastructure and national leadership.
