US to Deport 79 Nigerians on Criminal Offense List

The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced plans to deport 79 Nigerian nationals listed among the country’s “most dangerous” criminal immigrants.

According to information posted on the DHS website on Monday, the individuals were convicted of crimes including fraud, drug trafficking, assault, manslaughter, and robbery. The announcement is part of a broader U.S. effort targeting criminal immigrants.

A DHS statement noted, “The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is highlighting the worst of the worst criminal aliens arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.” It added that under the current administration, deportation efforts are focusing first on individuals with serious criminal records.

The list of Nigerians scheduled for deportation includes Boluwaji Akingunsoye, Ejike Asiegbunam, Emmanuel Mayegun Adeola, Bamidele Bolatiwa, Ifeanyi Nwaozomudoh, Aderemi Akefe, Solomon Wilfred, Chibundu Anuebunwa, Joshua Ineh, and Usman Momoh, among others. Additional names released by DHS span multiple states and cover convictions ranging from violent crimes to financial offenses.

Reports indicate that the deportation campaign has led some Nigerians in the U.S. to go into hiding, while others are returning home quietly to avoid detention. The move reflects a continuation of the Trump administration’s policy to remove criminal and undocumented immigrants from the country.

The DHS stated that the operation is ongoing and part of broader enforcement actions led by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to uphold federal immigration laws.
