US 15-point proposal to Iran revealed

Reports from multiple international outlets indicate that the United States has presented a 15-point proposal to Iran aimed at easing ongoing tensions between the two sides.

According to Reuters, the proposal has already been communicated to Iranian authorities. The The New York Times, citing two officials, reported that the message was transmitted through Pakistan.

The The Guardian notes that it remains unclear how widely the proposal has been shared within Iran’s leadership, and whether it is likely to serve as a basis for negotiations.

Separately, details attributed to Israel’s Channel 12 News outline the reported terms of the proposal. The points include requirements for Iran to dismantle its nuclear capabilities and commit to not pursuing nuclear weapons. It also calls for an end to uranium enrichment and the transfer of enriched materials under a schedule involving the US, Israel, and Iran.

The plan further reportedly demands the decommissioning of key nuclear facilities at Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordow, alongside granting inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency access to Iran’s nuclear program data.

Beyond nuclear restrictions, the proposal addresses regional security concerns. It urges Iran to end its proxy strategy, halt funding and arming of allied groups in the region, and limit the range and number of its missiles, with any future use confined to self-defense.

In addition, the plan reportedly calls for sanctions on Iran to be lifted, support for a civilian nuclear project in Bushehr for electricity generation, and the removal of snapback sanctions mechanisms. It also emphasizes maintaining the Strait of Hormuz as an open maritime route.
