Unknown Gunmen Murder Medical Doctor, Abduct Daughter in Kwara

Unknown gunmen suspected to be assassins have targeted and murdered Dr. David Adefikayo, the Medical Director of Dafikayo Clinic, at his residence in the Kanbi area of Moro Local Government Area, Kwara State, on Thursday evening.

According to sources, the assailants forcefully entered Dr. Adefikayo’s residence around 8:30 pm, where they encountered the medical doctor, his wife, and two daughters. Despite the doctor’s pleas for mercy and even offering money, the gunmen proceeded to fatally shoot him in his bedroom, leaving his horrified family behind.

In a further distressing turn of events, the assailants abducted the youngest daughter of the deceased, a 16-year-old girl, before fleeing the scene. As of press time, the whereabouts of the abducted girl and the identities of the murderers remain unknown, intensifying the anguish for the grieving family.

A close family source, speaking anonymously to journalists in Ilorin, expressed shock and grief over the incident. The source described Dr. Adefikayo as an easygoing man who was well-regarded in the community. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, leaving the community in disbelief.

The spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, DSP Ejire Adeyemi Adetoun, has not responded to calls or messages seeking the Command’s official statement on the matter at press time.
