Unknown Gunmen Kidnap APC Chieftain, DG of Asiwaju Media Team
Gunmen have abducted Prince Emorioloye Owoloemi, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State and Director-General of the Asiwaju Media Team, a political support group for President Bola Tinubu.
The incident occurred at about 9 a.m. on Friday at the Okonga/Olodo Junction in Igbokoda, headquarters of Ilaje Local Government Area.
According to reports, the assailants arrived in two Hilux vehicles, invaded Owoloemi’s office, and forced him away to an undisclosed location. His whereabouts were still unknown at the time of filing this report.
The Chairman of Ilaje Local Government Area, Hon. Maurice Oripenaye, condemned the abduction, describing it as a grave security breach and a threat to peace in the area.
He said the council had activated relevant security channels and contacted agencies including the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, and local security outfits to ensure a coordinated response.
Oripenaye urged residents to remain calm and warned against the spread of unverified information that could hinder ongoing investigations. He added that the local government would not condone violence, intimidation, or lawlessness.
Confirming the incident, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, said the command had launched an investigation, noting that details were still being gathered.
He assured the public that adequate measures had been put in place to protect lives and property across the state.
