Gunmen Kill Senior APC Chieftain in Zamfara
An APC leader in Zamfara, Hon. Umar Sarkin Fada Moriki, was shot dead early Saturday near Fegi village close to Gidan Dawa in Tsafe Local Government Area. He was travelling from Gusau to Kaduna when attackers opened fire on his vehicle, killing him instantly.
The Zamfara APC confirmed the incident in a statement issued in Gusau by its Publicity Secretary, Comrade Yusuf Idris Gusau. The party said Moriki had just taken part in a stakeholders’ meeting and a reception held in honour of the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle.
Moriki, aged 62, had held several public roles, including Vice Chairman of Zurmi Local Government Area, Director-General of State Revenue Generation, and Special Adviser on Rural Electrification. He leaves behind three wives and several children.
Following the news, Dr. Matawalle cancelled all engagements in Maradun to attend the funeral. The APC described Moriki as a generous figure remembered for humility, commitment, and support for vulnerable communities.
