UNIMED Registrar Killed in Suspected Assassination, Police Confirm
The University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo State, has been thrown into mourning following the confirmed assassination of its Registrar, Mr. Ezekiel Adeniran. The 41-year-old academic administrator, who was appointed to the role in January 2025, was found dead in his Akure residence in the early hours of Thursday.
Confirming the incident, the Ondo State Police Command described the death as a clear case of assassination. Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed that preliminary investigations indicated that two unidentified men emerged from a nearby bush and allegedly forced a substance into the mouth of another individual during the incident. Although the exact location of the attack remains unclear, Ayanlade stated that the command is focused on identifying and apprehending those responsible.
He called on the public to assist with credible information, assuring that all shared details would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
In a statement signed by the university’s Head of Media and Protocol, Mr. Isaac Oluyi, UNIMED expressed shock and sorrow over the registrar’s sudden death, noting that he was last seen at his duty post on Monday, July 14. The university noted that the cause of his death had not been officially confirmed as of the time the statement was released.
