UNIMAID Professor Dies in Tragic Home Garage Accident
The Borno State Police Command confirmed on Tuesday the tragic death of Prof. Ruth Wazis, a former Head of the Department of Business Management at the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), due to an accident at her home.
Commissioner of Police Yusuf Lawal, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), stated that the incident occurred on Sunday. According to Lawal, Prof. Wazis was parking her car in her garage when a sudden mechanical malfunction caused the vehicle to accelerate unexpectedly, knocking her to the ground and crushing her chest.
Despite the immediate efforts of her family to rush her to the hospital, Prof. Wazis succumbed to her injuries before medical assistance could be rendered. Her remains have since been taken to the hospital by her family.
