Reports emerging on social media suggest that several graduates of the University of Ilorin (Unilorin) have been kidnapped while traveling to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Rivers State.
According to multiple posts on X (formerly Twitter), the incident allegedly occurred in Delta State on Sunday, January 21. While official details remain unclear, some users claiming to know the victims have stated that the kidnappers are demanding a ransom of ₦5 million per person.
One X user revealed that his neighbor’s sister was among those abducted, while others shared similar accounts of relatives and friends being taken.
The police are yet to issue a statement on the incident. This is not the first time prospective corps members have been kidnapped while en route to their NYSC camps, raising renewed concerns over the safety of young graduates traveling for the mandatory national service.
