UK Crocodile Expert Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Sexual Abuse of Dogs, Animal Cruelty
Adam Britton, a 53-year-old former crocodile expert, was sentenced to over 10 years in an Australian prison on Thursday after pleading guilty to 63 charges, including bestiality, animal cruelty, and possession of child abuse material. Britton, once respected in his field, is now banned from owning mammals for life and will be eligible for parole in April 2028.
The Northern Territory Supreme Court Chief Justice Michael Grant described Britton’s actions as “unspeakable” and “grotesque” during sentencing. Britton’s heinous crimes involved acquiring 42 dogs online between 2020 and 2022 under the pretense of offering them a “good home.” Instead, he filmed himself raping and killing the animals in a shipping container on his property in Darwin, later sharing the footage on Telegram.
Britton, originally from the United Kingdom, had a notable career in Australia, collaborating with prestigious organizations like the BBC and National Geographic. His arrest in 2022 marked a shocking fall from grace for the once-renowned wildlife expert.
